About The Blog Owner

The most interesting things in life involve real people.  I think I can and should document my own life experiences, which have been rich and so rewarding.  I have already outlived three of my four grandparents, who coincidentally, all died at 61 years of age.  The way I see it now, every single day is a bonus.  And somehow, I’m healthy and happy and enjoying it all.  What a gift life is!

I came into this world in late 1955.  I was 13 years old when man first landed on the moon and The Beatles released Abbey Road.  The movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey was a vision of a future utopia, along with a technological paradise that provided such bright promise for the human race.  But after five more years of the Vietnam War and the decay of the shallow sixty’s message of love, life was already a far cry from the fantastic future I had dreamed of.

I readjusted my attitude and sought to find myself in the real world.  I hired on with a large company at age 23 and spent the next 37 years working there.  I met my wonderful wife in my 30’s and we raised two amazing daughters who I truly love and admire.

I’ve been a runner my entire life and it’s a part of my identity.  Back in the day I preferred to run in the desert heat, eventually earning the nickname “Desert Dog”, which was quickly shortened to “Des”, or “Dez”.

Although I’m always on the lookout for new blogs, I really don’t have time to follow hundreds, or even dozens, so I follow those who seem to offer the most original and genuine content.  It could be the subject matter or it could just be their flair or style, but I feel fortunate to have found people who provide me hours of entertainment and food for thought.

I’m not really a seeker or a follower.  Family and freedom are worth dying for, and they are everything to me. Political and religious views are important, but this is not place.  I don’t follow people who push their agendas on a regular basis.  I just don’t care.

There is no rhyme or reason to what I post, it’s determined by whatever is on my mind that day.  The same goes with what I choose to read, I’m all over the place.

I’ve very much enjoyed being here and I thank you for taking the time to stop by my site!
